Missouri take third in Central Division

Competing on Ross Barnett Reservoir in Brandon, Mississippi the Missouri State Federation Nation Team finished third in the Federation Nation Central Division Championships. Shane Long of Sarcoxie will represent Missouri at the Federation Nation Championships in November. Shane will be competing for a slot in the Bassmasters Classic. Complete standings and results here. Stevens and Morgan win Table Rock

Jeff Stevens and former Federation Nation State Champion Steve Morgan brought a 15.65 pound sack to the scales to take first on May 20th at Mill Creek. Utilizing a Zara Spook early in the Kimberling City area, then swimming a grub on off shore structure later in the day was the winning pattern. Their sack was anchored by a 6.50 pound largemouth taken on a grub, the tournament Big Bass. Steve and Jeff caught seven keepers to amass there winning weight. Finishing a strong second was Dwayne Long and Jimmy Wharton with a 12.90 pound limit that included a 5.95 kicker largemouth. Third place was Jerry Hunley with 4 bass weighing 9.15.

The Renkoski's win 1st Annual Tax Time Open Tournament

After two weeks of cold wintery weather, spring finally returned April 15th, just in time for the 1st Annual Tax Time Tournament by Ozark Mountain Bassmasters. 14 teams launched from Mill Creek campground on Table Rock lake for a great day of fishing. In the end, the team of Andy and Bud Renkoski topped the field with a 18 pound 2 ounce limit, that included the second Big Bass of the tournament a beautiful 5 pound one ounce smallmouth. Andy, fishing with his father Bud, reported catching over twenty keeper fish on an all day bite. Swimming a grub, keying on pea gravel main lake and secondary points in 8 to 18 feet of water, was the key to victory for the team. Andy had a great weekend of fishing, he also finished fourth in Saturdays Ozark Division BFL tournament. For their efforts they received a total of 450.00 for first place and second big bass. Andy wished to thank Nitro, P-line and Costa Del Mar for their support.

The second place team of Mike Campbell and Chad Baker fished the middle James River having the best luck between points 7 and 12. Concentrating on chunk rock banks near channel swings the pair found bass ready eat football jigs in 12 feet of water. Their limit included 5 pound 9.5 ounce largemouth, the Big Bass of the tournament, worth $315.00 The bite improved later in the day as the water temperature ranged from 52 morning to 56 in the afternoon.

Kevin Billen and Kenneth Robinson fished a pattern similar to the winner, grubs on main lake points from Kimberling City up the lake. For their weight of 16 pounds 3 ounces they received $70.00. Kevin is sponsored by Natures Image Taxidermy.

Martin and Wharton bag limit for win

Returning to Stockton March 25th, Brad Martin and Jimmy Wharton bagged the only limit brought to the scales to win the club event. Fishing in Maze Creek and the Masters area the team relied on a shallow spinnerbait bite to cull through six keepers on an all day bite. Finishing second was the team of Jeremy Ealy and Darrell Smith who relied on a jerkbait bite. J.D. Dendy and David Blades finished third fishing texas rigged lizards shallow in the mid lake area.

Stockton wins Stockton

Any angler familiar with Stockton lake know how brutal a north or south wind can make the lake. Despite forecasted thirty mile an hour winds, three teams braved the elements February 25th to try there luck. Despite there best efforts, Stockton Lake was declared the winner when no keepers were brought to the scales for weigh in.

Collier and Collier win Table Rock

Danny Collier and Russell Collier fished a traditional winter pattern to win our Table Rock tournament December 17th. Danny reported using a spoon to catch approximately 35 keepers from 40-72 feet deep during a good days fishing. Their five bass limit of spotted bass weighted 15 pounds.

Brad Martin and David Whitehead found that James River isn't the only place that has a Wiggle Wart bite. Fishing from Mill Creek to Indian Point, using craw pattern wiggle warts 10 to 15 feet deep on secondary points, they caught a limit of smallmouth and spotted bass good for second place at 13 pounds.

Ealy and Whitehead win Taneycomo

Jeremy Ealy and David Whitehead managed a five bass limit on Taneycomo to win the club event. They reported catching eight keepers to cull to their limit. Most fish were caught on jerkbaits.

David Blades qualifies for Missouri State Team

Ozark Mountain Bassmasters competed in the first Missouri Federation Nation Championships October 21st and 22nd at Table Rock Lake, Kimberling City Mo. The championship was a dual purpose tournament selecting both the Missouri State Divisional team and also competitors for the new World Six Man Team Championship. The top twelve individual finishers will compete and represent Missouri at the Federation Nation Divisional Championship tournament in June of 2007. The Top Six clubs will be eligable to compete at the World Six-Man Team championships at a future date as announced by BASS.

In the six-man team competition Ozark Mountain finish in tenth place with 35 club competing. The top individual qualifier from the club, David Blades, finished in ninth place with a total weight of 8.90 pounds,and will be a member of the Missouri Divisional team. Other club members finishing in the top 100 were Jeremy Ealy in 28th place, Dwayne Long in 44th and Jason Hicks in 87th.
